In this blog post, Kaava Liquor's owner, Maxine Cruel, shares her top tips for opening and running a successful store. Trust us – with these tips, you're on your way to success!
Source of Inspiration
Maxine recalls how she and her husband bonded over dinner drinking after work. They realized they both love liquor so they asked themselves, "Why not open a liquor shop?". They also saw the need to have a liquor store within their community because when the pandemic happened, there was no place for them to purchase liquor due to the ban.
Apart from the reasons aforementioned, she felt stressed at work. She didn't feel like there's still growth for her in the workplace. She was a Psychology graduate but her work is more on marketing/merchandising. She wasn't passionate about it. She dreamt of being her own boss and not working for anybody else. So her husband suggested that they start a business so that she can work on her own.
Choosing The Perfect Location
One time, Maxine and her husband were talking about how there is a shop near their house selling liquor - like a sari-sari store where you just point what you like and buy it. It is also a specialty store selling beer pong cups, beer pong balls, and the like. Maxine and her husband figured that it's a nice concept - a liquor shop within the community. The houses filled with families and the surrounding neighborhood can be their potential customers. That is when the idea of starting a liquor store of their own came to mind.
Teaming Up With Wemu
Prior to using Wemu, Maxine used to write all sales and inventory on paper and then transfer it into an Excel spreadsheet. It's a lot of work for a business owner, which is why someone recommended that she uses a Point-of-Sale (POS) System to make her life easier.
Now with Wemu, she no longer needs to use paper nor Excel spreadsheets to take note of everything. All she needs is a tablet and app to quickly and easily manage her liquor shop. With just a tap on the app, she can instantly compute for her desired profits and record her price increases. It's like having an assistant. For her, the app is very convenient especially with its receipt feature, for she can do away with a bulky POS like those you see in the supermarket.
For Maxine, Wemu's Point-of-Sale (POS) System is the most helpful tool for her to become a succesful liquor store owner. Her advice to aspiring liquor store owners is, "Work hard. When there are hard days and you have no time for yourself, continue. No one else will do it for you. Be strong and pray always." She is also thankful to Wemu for being the bestfriend she never knew she needed.
