Why Stripe
Stripe is Wemu's default card processor. Connecting it enables:
- Card payments on the POS — chip, swipe, manual entry
- Tap to Pay on iPhone and Android — contactless cards and phones without a separate reader
- Online card payments on your storefront — customers checkout with Apple Pay, Google Pay, or any card
- Stripe Terminal hardware — dedicated BBPOS and Verifone card readers if you want a stationary reader
Connect Stripe in 3 minutes
Navigate to: Settings → Integrations → Stripe Connect
- Tap Connect with Stripe
- You're redirected to Stripe's secure onboarding — Stripe asks for business details (legal entity, bank account for payouts, tax info)
- Complete the forms — usually 3-5 minutes
- Stripe redirects back to Wemu; you land on a confirmation screen
Payouts to your bank account start within 2-7 days of your first sale, depending on your country's Stripe terms.
Fees
We don't add any markup. You pay Stripe's standard rates directly — typically 1.75% + 30¢ for in-person card payments and 2.9% + 30¢ for online.
Supported countries
Everywhere Stripe supports — currently 45+ countries. See [Stripe's country list](https://stripe.com/global).
What if I already have Stripe?
Use the same email + business details you registered with Stripe. The onboarding flow will recognise the existing account and just authorise Wemu to create charges on your behalf.
Test mode
Stripe has a "test mode" with dummy card numbers (`4242 4242 4242 4242`). Wemu uses test mode automatically during the 14-day trial so you can exercise the full payment flow without real money moving. Go live by finishing Stripe's identity verification.
Disconnecting
Settings → Integrations → Stripe Connect → Disconnect — immediately stops new charges. Refunds and outstanding payouts continue to settle through Stripe directly.
