What it turns on
Card payments in Wemu run through Stripe. Once it's connected, customers can pay by card (and by Apple Pay or Google Pay online):
- On your booking page, for online bookings and deposits
- In your online shop
- On invoices, through the payment link
- On the Wemu POS: a card saved on file, a card typed in by hand, and a QR code the customer scans to pay on their phone
The POS doesn't connect to separate card readers.
Connect Stripe
Navigate to: Settings → Integrations → Stripe Connect
- Choose the country of the bank account you'll be paid into. Your payments account opens in that country, even if your business operates somewhere else.
- Click Enable Card Payments and fill in Stripe's short form about you and your business. Stripe may ask for your payout bank account or debit card then, or later under Finish verification.
- Stripe brings you back to Wemu, where the page shows whether card payments are on and whether payouts are enabled.
Taking payments before verification is finished
Stripe can switch card payments on before it has finished checking your business. Until it has, and payouts are enabled, there's a limit on how much you can take in total and on any one payment. The Stripe Connect page shows how much of the limit you've used.
Click Finish verification to complete Stripe's checks. Payouts start once Stripe is done.
Fees
Wemu charges one fee on each card payment. It covers Stripe's card processing for the country your payments account is in, plus Wemu's margin. Stripe doesn't bill you separately.
If your business trades outside your payout country, the fee uses Stripe's international card rate. If you charge in a different currency from your payout account, Stripe's currency conversion is added too.
No test mode
There's no test mode. Every card payment you take through Wemu is a real payment.
Already have a Stripe account?
Wemu sets up a Stripe account for your business through the steps above. You can't link a Stripe account you already have.
After you're connected
Open Stripe Dashboard shows your balance and payouts.
Disconnecting
Settings → Integrations → Stripe Connect → Disconnect stops customers paying by card.
