Setting up leave
Navigate to: Settings โ Leave
Start from a country preset: Australia, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, or a blank list. Presets are editable starting points, so check them against your award, agreement or contract.
For each leave type you can set:
- The name and colour
- What it's counted in: hours, working days, or calendar days (every day counts)
- Whether it's paid, and the yearly allowance
- Keep a balance: switch off for leave taken as needed, like compassionate leave
- Scale by weekly hours, so part-timers get the allowance in proportion to their usual hours
- Private: colleagues, the roster and notifications only ever say "On leave"
Choose the Leave year: the calendar year (1 January), the financial year (1 July), or each person's start date.
Leave in Wemu is tracked for the roster and bookings. It isn't payroll.
Who approves
Owners, admins and managers approve or decline leave, and can record leave for anyone, including days that have already passed. Nobody approves their own leave: a manager's leave needs another manager or the owner.
A low balance never stops leave being asked for or recorded; the approver sees a warning instead.
The Leave tab
Navigate to: Team โ Leave
- Needs approval: requests waiting for a decision
- Balances: what each person has left
- Upcoming leave and Leave history
Managers use Record leave; everyone else uses Ask for leave.
Leave and bookings
Approved leave takes that person off the booking calendar and shows on the roster. Leave that's still waiting for approval doesn't block bookings.
For your staff
Staff who can open the Team page ask for their own leave there with Ask for leave, or a manager records it for them with Record leave.
