Why pair with a code
Pairing signs a tablet in to your business without anyone typing the owner's email and password into it. The tablet gets its own sign-in, opens straight onto the right screen, and stays signed in for up to a year, or until you sign it out.
Get a code
Navigate to: Settings โ Devices โ Add device
- Choose what the device is for: Register (takes orders and payments), Floor (tables and orders, no register), Kitchen display (tickets and dishes for the kitchen) or Manager (reports and settings)
- If you have more than one branch, pick the Branch. Add a Name if you like, such as Front counter
- Press Get a code. Wemu shows a six-digit code and a QR code. The code works once and expires after 10 minutes.
On the tablet
- Open Wemu POS and tap Pair with a code from the web app
- Type the code, or tap Scan the code instead and scan the QR code
- The tablet opens in the role you chose. A kitchen display goes straight to its board; every other role asks staff for their PIN
The web app shows Paired with the device's name once it's done. Signing in with email still works too: tap Sign in with email instead.
Pairing needs a recent version of Wemu POS, which reaches tablets that Wemu updates directly first. If the sign-in screen has no Pair with a code from the web app option, sign in with email for now.
Managing devices
Settings โ Devices lists every tablet signed in to Wemu POS, with its branch, app version and when it was last seen. For each one you can:
- Edit: rename it or change its role. For a kitchen display, choose its station too (see Kitchen stations).
- Kiosk mode: on an Android tablet Wemu has set up as a dedicated device, lock it to Wemu POS, keep its screen on and relaunch it after a restart. Press Exit kiosk here to release it without touching the tablet. On other Android tablets it uses Android's screen pinning, which someone confirms on the tablet and staff can leave. It has no effect on iPads.
- Sign out: sign out a lost or stolen tablet. It shows as offline straight away, and Wemu POS signs itself out the next time the tablet connects.
