Getting started with Wemu POS

Download and install

Wemu POS is a free app that comes with your Wemu subscription. It runs on:

• iPhone and iPad with iOS or iPadOS 17 or later, from the App Store
• Android phones and tablets, from Google Play

Search for Wemu POS in either store, or get the links from the downloads page.

Sign the tablet in

There are two ways:

• Pair with a code (best for shared tablets): in the web app, go to Settings → Devices → Add device and get a code. On the tablet, tap Pair with a code from the web app and type it in. Nobody types the owner's password into the tablet. See Pairing a tablet with a code. Pairing needs a recent version of Wemu POS; if you don't see that option, sign in with email.
• Sign in with email: enter the email you use on the web, tap Continue, enter your password and tap Sign in. You can also sign in with Google, or with Apple on an iPhone or iPad, if that's how you signed up.

Next comes the staff screen. Tap your photo and enter your 4-digit PIN, then clock in or tap Skip – go to POS. The branch the tablet works for shows on this screen; if you have more than one, tap it to change.

Wemu POS loads your catalog, tables and team, and keeps working if the internet drops. See Offline mode & syncing.

Ring your first sale

1. Tap a product tile to add it to the cart, and tap it again or use + and − on the cart line to change the quantity
2. Add a customer, discount or note if you need to
3. Tap Charge (it shows the total) at the bottom of the cart
4. Choose Cash, Card or Split, or QR once Stripe is connected. See Taking payments.
5. For cash, enter the amount handed over and the app shows the change
6. Confirm the payment
7. Send the receipt by Email, SMS, QR or Share, or tap Print receipt

Before your first shift

• Staff PINs: every team member needs a PIN, and Wemu POS takes 4 digits. See Staff PIN sign-in & audit trail.
• Printers: add your receipt and kitchen printers on each tablet. See Setting up receipt and kitchen printers.
• Kitchen routing: send each category to its station. See Kitchen stations.
• Cash drawer: open the drawer with your starting float at the start of each shift. See Cash drawer.
• Stripe: connect Stripe once on the web for card and QR payments. See Connecting Stripe.
• Manager approvals: choose which till actions need a manager's PIN in Settings → Manager approvals on the web.

Handing over and signing out

• Tap your name at the top left to go back to the staff screen so the next person can sign in
• Tap the lock icon next to your name to lock the till; a PIN opens it again
• Tap the Wemu logo, then Logout, to sign the tablet out completely
