What a tab is
A tab is a running bill for a person or a group. It doesn't have to be at a table, so it works for the bar, the patio or a regular who pays at the end of the night.
Tabs come with Wemu POS 1.5.0, which goes out first to tablets that Wemu updates directly. If there's no Tabs button in your top bar, your tablet doesn't have it yet. Tabs need an internet connection.
Opening a tab
- On the POS, tap the Tabs button (the receipt icon) in the top bar
- Tap Open tab
- Give it a Name (for example, Sarah or Tom's group). A table, a linked customer and a note such as Blue shirt, patio are optional.
The Tabs list shows every open tab with its running balance. Search by name, table, customer or note.
Adding rounds
Open the tab and tap Add round, or ring items up on the register and tap Add to tab. Each round goes to the kitchen like any other order.
Everything you can do with a tab
- Rename, Link a customer or Change customer
- Table: move the tab to a table, or take it off one
- Move items to another tab
- Pay together with another tab, which merges them into one bill
- Print the Bill (the Receipt once it's closed)
- Close tab when nothing is owed, or Void tab (a manager approves, and only before any payment is taken)
Taking payments
Take payments whenever people want to pay, in full or in part. Each payment is saved the moment it's taken, with its own method and tip, so a split bill is never lost if the tablet restarts. The tab shows what's Paid, what's Left to pay and, if it happens, what's Overpaid.
When the balance reaches zero, the tab closes on its own.
A manager can void a payment that was entered twice or refunded; Wemu asks for the reason. Voiding a payment doesn't refund the card. Store credit and account payments can't be used on a tab.
